SF has 93,000 ballots left to count

San Francisco’s Election Day tally persists with 93,000 ballots remaining to count as of Monday, according to the Department of Elections.

Election outcomes don’t show signs of changing as the count has continued since Election Day.

While Supervisor Scott Wiener continues to hold a five point lead since election night in the District 11 state Senate race against Supervisor Jane Kim, he’s not declaring an official victory just yet.

“There are votes still to be counted, but we look forward to a positive outcome in the next couple of days,” Wiener’s campaign manager Maggie Muir said Monday.

With the large ballot it’s taking some time to count all the votes. Between Sunday and Monday, for example, the department counted 12,075 vote-by-mail ballots.

“The Department expects to continue reviewing and processing vote-by-mail ballots until at least Wednesday, November 23,” according to a statement from the Department of Elections on Monday. “The counting of provisional ballots will begin no earlier than Wednesday.”
