Six apartment units atop a cliff at 320 Esplanade Ave. in Pacifica are being evacuated Thursday morning after a 60-foot chunk of earth fell from the bluff.

Doug Rider, Pacifica's chief building official, said he learned of the latest deterioration at about 6:15 a.m.

Rider said it has not yet been determined whether the remaining residents of the 20-unit building at 320 Esplanade Ave. will need to evacuate Thursday. He was at the site Thursday morning evaluating the situation.
