English satirist Michael Deacon has a notable observation about the latest celebrity baby news: “Fact of the day: Mick Jagger now has a child who is younger than his great-granddaughter.”

On Thursday, the publicist for the 73-year-old Rolling Stones frontman (aka Sir Mick, he was knighted in 2003) issued a statement: “Melanie Hamrick and Mick Jagger’s son was born today in New York, and they are both delighted. Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time.”

The Rolling Stones frontman and the ballerina, 30, have been dating for two years, according to Us.

The baby, whose name was not announced, is Hamrick’s first child.

Jagger is already the dad of seven children: daughter Karis, 46, with ex Marsha Hunt; daughter Jade, 45, with ex-wife Bianca Jagger; daughters Elizabeth, 32, and Georgia May, 24, and sons James, 31, and Gabriel, 18, with ex Jerry Hall; and son Lucas, 17, with ex Luciana Gimenez.

He also has three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Assisi, who was born to Jade in 2014.

Before he got involved with the New York-based dancer, Jagger was seeing fashion designer L’Wren Scott from 2001 to 2014. She died by suicide in 2014 and reportedly left her entire $9 million estate to Jagger.

The U.K. Daily Mail reports that Jagger has agreed to give Hamrick $150,000 per year to help her support the child.

Scoop! also likes comedian’s Ste Porter’s tweet: “Mick: Save money on two separate, expensive birthday parties by combining your son’s 18th with your 100th.” (Not that Jagger needs really needs to cut costs….)
