Scoop: Mia Farrow tweets address of dentist who killed famous lion

The government of Zimbabwe was already furious at Minnesota dentist Walter Palmer for slaying well-known preserve resident Cecil the lion, but on Wednesday he faced an even more formidable enemy: Mia Farrow.

“CecilTheLion -Gentle protector of 6 cubs. Loved by many. Killed by Dentist Walter Palmer,” tweeted the actress and animal activist, along with Palmer’s address.

Palmer has been laying low since news broke Tuesday that the 55-year-old dentist was the hunter who killed the Cecil, who wore a collar as part of an Oxford University Research project, according to The Associated Press. The Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force says Palmer and two local guides lured Cecil away from a protected wildlife area before shooting him with a crossbow and ultimately beheading him.

On Wednesday, Palmer advised patients to seek care elsewhere, acknowledging that hunting is a “divisive and emotionally charged topic” as protesters put stuffed lions on the doorstep of his shuttered Minneapolis-area office.

The killing struck a nerve among animal lovers. TV host Jimmy Kimmel teared up as he addressed what he called “this disgusting tragedy” on his late-night show Tuesday. Former California governor and part-time terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger tweeted, “Killing a lion isn’t ballsy. Going into the octagon or joining the military – that’s ballsy. Try that before you kill a lion.”

Comedian and San Francisco native Margaret Cho was more concise in her criticism.
