Mariah Carey’s disastrous New Year’s Eve performance on live TV in New York simply won’t go away.
The diva’s ex-husband Tommy Mottola told Page Six that she should seek “more seasoned and respected professionals” to guide her career, while other reports indicated that she indeed did let go of her longtime creative director and tour choreographer-dancer Anthony Burrell.
The pop star herself said that mishaps with her singing, lip syncing, audio and other technical difficulties on “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest” would not have happened if Clark were still alive.
She told Entertainment Weekly, “I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time.”
Meanwhile, others came to her defense, including Marie Osmond, who told Fox News, “High-five to her for not walking offstage.”
(No word from Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce or Ashlee Simpson, all experts on the difficulties of live, high-profile performances.)
Yet life is going on for Carey, who posted a photo of herself in a hot tub, wearing gold swimsuit and displaying cleavage, on Instagram.
Also: A new teaser for her reality show “Mariah’s World” shows her kissing backup dancer and current boyfriend Bryan Tanaka (although she was engaged to billionaire James Packer at the time).
Carrie Fisher has been cremated.
“Entertainment Tonight”reports that the “Star Wars” star’s ashes will be buried alongside her mom Debbie Reynolds, who will be laid to rest at a private ceremony at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills on Friday.
A public memorial is in the planning stages,”ET” says; Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Fisher’s ex-husband, Paul Simon, are among the stars likely to attend.
Fisher died Dec. 27 after suffering a heart attack on a flight; the next day, Reynolds died after suffering a stroke.
