Scoop: Lena Dunham takes diet tips magazine cover to task

Lena Dunham had some pithy words for Us, which put her skinny photo on the cover of the magazine next to a headline “20 Slimdown Diet Tips Stars Are Using.”

Calling the feature “diametrically opposed to everything I’ve fought my whole career for,” the “Girls” creator came up with her own list, which she posted on Instagram, beginning with “anxiety disorder” and “resultant constant nausea.”

The Golden Globe winner writes that her apparent weight loss has been due to medical conditions and the state of politics, with list items including “an election that reveals the true depths of American misogyny, a quiet rage that replaces need for food with need for revenge, and abdominal adhesions pinning ovary below uterus.”

After last week’s Met Gala in New York, to which she wore an Elizabeth Kennedy gown seemingly inspired by Scarlett O’Hara, the actress was hospitalized, suffering from complications due to endometriosis surgery in April.

Another reason for the new body shape may have had something to do with her work with trainer Tracy Anderson.
