Scoop! Despite pictures, Kate clear of drug charges

Kate Moss is off the hook.

British police have decided not to press charges against the 32-year-old supermodel, who was photographed in September allegedly using cocaine in a studio where her then-boyfriend, Pete Doherty, was recording with his band, Babyshambles. Lest you forget, the Daily Mirror promptly published those pics.

Apparently, a picture isn’t worth a thousand words, because police ruled there was “insufficient evidence” to prosecute.

Rene Barclay, the Crown Prosecution Service director of serious casework, said there was an “absolutely clear indication” that Moss had been using an illegal substance.

“However, in the absence of any forensic evidence, or direct eyewitness evidence about the substance in question, its precise nature could not be established,” Barclay told The Associated Press. “Ms. Moss declined to provide any explanation when interviewed, and the direct eyewitnesses also declined to provide evidence.”

Moss has since cleaned up her act, after a stay in an Arizona rehab center. Doherty? Well, not so much. The rocker has been arrested a record number of times for drug offenses and just lastweek admitted himself to a detox clinic in Portugal.

Friends don’t let friends drink ’til they’re 30

Speaking of rehab, Jewel has recently discovered the joys of drinking.

“I didn’t start drinking until I was 30,” the 32-year-old singer told Blender magazine. “I grew up singing for alcoholics, and it never really seemed like alcohol fixed anything. I was afraid that it would get me. Around 30, I kind of realized that alcohol really does solve all your problems. Whoever said drinking doesn’t help lied. You live and you learn.”

You hear that kids?

No reconciliation for you, Jessica

Nick Lachey has totally moved on from soon-to-be ex-wife Jessica Simpson.

The recovering boy-bander-turned-solo-artist has hooked up with “Entertainment Tonight” correspondent Vanessa Minnillo. The couple was spotted at Borgata casino in Atlantic City looking oh-so cozy.

“They definitely shared a room,” a spy told Us Weekly. “They went up there with a posse, and the posse left shortly thereafter.”

This news should put to rest any hopes Simpson had for a reconciliation with her “Newlyweds” co-star.

“Despite what she’s been saying publicly, I believe she wants very much to get back with Nick,” one of Simpson’s pals told MSNBC.

What not to wear

Kevin Federline has gotten a job. It’s probably the first one that his wife, Britney Spears, didn’t get for him.

According to gossip site PerezHilton.com, the wannabe rapper has been hired by Blue Marlin clothing company to shill for their new Five Star Vintage brand.

Oh, the things NASA can do

You don’t need to wait for the music critics to bash Paris Hilton’s upcoming CD. British singer Charlotte Church is already offering her opinion.

“When I heard Paris Hilton’s single, I thought, ‘Wow, isn’t it amazing what NASA technology can do with someone’s voice,’” Church told the London Independent. “Paris is bloody awful. Honestly, I heard a bit of it on the radio and it’s terrible.”

You’ll be able to judge Hilton’s “talent” yourself when the first single, “Stars are Blind” (insert your own “everyone wishes they were deaf” joke here), drops July 31 and the album hits stores the first week of August.
