Even though Drake surpassed Adele’s record at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday in Las Vegas, earning 13, the talk of the show remains Cher.
The pop diva performed “Believe” and “If I Could Turn Back Time” before accepting the Icon award from Gwen Stefani.
“I’ve been doing it for 53 years. … I’m 71 yesterday,” Cher said. “And I can do a five-minute plank, just saying.”
She thanked her mom and Sonny Bono for telling her that she wouldn’t be the smartest, the prettiest or the most talented, but she would be special.
“And there was really nothing about me that led anyone to believe I was going to be special,” she added.
As always, her wardrobe attracted attention, particularly the form-fitting, flesh-toned sparkly costume with a heart-shaped pink pasty on her left breast but nothing on the right — eliciting a flurry of online commentary about her lack of a right nipple.
Speaking of couture, other notable outfits of the day included Celine Dion’s huge-sleeved dress (one person tweeted: Is it “paying tribute to the iceberg that the Titanic hit?”) and Drake wearing a Tom Ford collared polo sweater that Los Angeles Times writer Mikael Wood said “made him look like Jack Nicklaus.”

The former TV host also will chat about musical moments on show, and offer a playlist of his favorite performances.
Music by Cook, Jason Isbell, Willie Nelson, Ryan Adams, Warren Zevon and Steve Earle is also slated.
Seniors participating in San Francisco’s On Lok programs will get a treat on Thursday afternoon May 25 at the Powell Street center, where Sirron Norris, the original lead artist for Fox Network’s “Bob’s Burgers,” is teaching cartooning; fruits of their labor may be incorporated into a mural on site. … On Wednesday evening May 24 at Verso, San Francisco mixologists Douglas Bedford, Jordie Ho-Shue, Zhen Li, Collin Nicholas, Timofei Osipenko, Alexander Riddle, Christian Suzuki and Megan Lazar will compete in the U.S. Bartenders Guild’s Most Imaginative Bartender Competition presented by Bombay Sapphire Gin; the winner will be among 12 finalists who will go to London to vie for the 2017 North American title.
