Wreath sales ring up aid for kids 

Some 400 holiday revelers celebrated at the ninth annual party and benefit for Children of Shelters, held at the Presidio Officers’ Club on Dec. 9. Proceeds from sales of wreaths by top West Coast designers will help provide homeless youngsters with educational and cultural opportunities.

Sports stars celebrate Holiday Heroes

Stars came out to meet children in need at AT&T Park on Dec. 7 for the Wender Weis Foundation for Children’s 14th annual event — formerly Halloween Heroes — a benefit for the Junior Giants baseball program, Always Dream Foundation, Raphael House, Ronald McDonald House of San Francisco and the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center. Participants included San Francisco Giants players Andres Torres and Sergio Romo, and Olympians Kristi Yamaguchi and Brandi Chastain.

Museum hosts Hanukkah party

More than 500 people of all ages celebrated Hanukkah and the exhibit “George Saves the Day: The Art of Margret and H.A. Rey” at a festive fundraiser at the museum Dec. 4. Proceeds will go to education, special programming for families and free-admission days.
