Would you pay to read the New York Times?

The New York Times today warned readers that starting March 28, they will have to pay for a digital subscription to read more than 20 articles a month on the New York Times.

If you are a avid New York Times fan read this link carefully but most of us should consider the following:

Readers who come to Times articles through links from search, blogs and social media like Facebook and Twitter will be able to read those articles, even if they have reached their monthly reading limit. For some search engines, users will have a daily limit of free links to Times articles.

The home page at NYTimes.com and all section fronts will remain free to browse for all users at all times.

At first glance, it appears that the only subscribers will be the confused users who don't know how to slip past the pay wall.

Update: The Daily Beast's Howard Kurtz takes a closer look at the paywall here
