Neither rain, nor sleet nor thugs.

A postal worker was almost robbed of her mail near Hallidie Plaza on Friday, police said.

The 49-year-old female civil servant’s letters were snatched out of her hand at Eddy and Mason streets about 12:20 p.m., police said.

The victim gave chase and attempted to get the mail back but was pushed by the thief, described by police as a woman in her 20s, who fled with the mail to a nearby Muni bus.

The dedicated postal worker also entered the bus and the suspect dropped the mail in the back and fled.

The mail was recovered.
