Federal prosecutors have charged a Milwaukee man with covering up his role in the mass execution of thousands of Bosnian Muslims in the mid-1990s so he could come to the United States. According to court documents, 46-year-old Bosnian Mladjen Cvijanovic applied for refugee status in 2002. He said he had been unemployed since 1992. But documents uncovered indicate Cvijanovic was a police officer for the Republika Srpska’s Ministry of the Interior. In 1995, he and his unit were ordered to support Serb military forces as they intercepted Bosnian Muslims fleeing from Srebrenica.
