Weigh in on who should be the new chief of police

Want to weigh in on your next community leader poised to make $292,000 a year in salary and benefits?

The San Francisco Police Department is in search of a new chief and the police commission is turning to the public to help find the right man, or woman, for the job.

Starting Thursday, the commission will hold three public meetings to get feedback and find out “preferred qualities” the community wants from the new chief.

The first is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, at the United Irish Cultural Center, located at 2700 45th Avenue. The second is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Southeast Community Facility, located at 1800 Oakdale Avenue; and finally a third at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, located at San Francisco LGBT Community Center, located at 1800 Market Street.

Applications are due Feb. 8 for any interested, qualified candidates still wanting to apply.
