A Walnut Creek school custodian who was arrested last week on suspicion of molesting a child has been charged with 10 felony sex crime counts for allegedly sexually assaulting two children, police said Wednesday.

John Astor, 44, was arrested Thursday at his Walnut Creek home on suspicion of lewd acts against a child under 14.

The recently reported sexual assault prompted police to investigate another alleged victim, who is now an adult.

Police said that neither of the victims were students at any of the various Walnut Creek schools in the Mount Diablo School District where Astor works as a janitor.

However, police continue to investigate the possibility that Astor sexually assaulted any students at those schools, and are asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact Detective Keagy at (925) 943-5881.

Astor is being held in the Martinez Detention Facility on $1.5 million bail.
