Veteran nurse helps seniors feel at home

Lisa Marie Blaskie, the registered nurse with more than 30 years of experience, established ComForcare Senior Services in San Francisco in 2009. In-home care and treatment for senior citizens in need are provided.

Where did you get the inspiration to form ComForcare? I never worked in the senior market until I started caring for my mother. As she got older, I was her primary caregiver and helped her in her day-to-day life. I really learned a lot from that experience, and it gave me a desire to help other elderly citizens.

What sort of services does ComForcare offer? We offer services that range from one to 24 hours a day. There are no minimum requirements. If someone needs meals, medication, checkups, we’re there to help out.

What do you see as the future for home care services? It’s been proven that seniors are happier and live in a better type of environment when they’re at home. We need to make sure they can be accommodated as well as possible.

Is San Francisco a good environment for seniors to live in? San Francisco is definitely a good city for seniors. We have a good public transportation system and a diverse range of services for seniors.
