Vendor dies after Jan. 28 street attack

A 77-year-old man who was heartlessly hurled to the ground at Market and Post streets last month has died from his injuries, police said Monday.

The attack that killed San Francisco resident Dallas Ayers occurred about 11 a.m. Jan. 28, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

The suspect fled and remains at large.

Police describe the suspect as a white man in his late 40s standing 5-foot-8 and wearing a brown hoodie and brown pants.

Ayers was a longtime newspaper vendor in downtown San Francisco.
