A San Francisco man who died late Saturday after being shot in the Bayview District was identified Sunday by the medical examiner’s office as 21-year-old Nick Frantin.

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Thomas Avenue just after 10 p.m. Saturday after an alert from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system, police spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

As officers arrived in the area, the victim walked into a nearby store at the corner of Thomas Avenue and Keith Street, according to Andraychak.

Frantin, who had been shot multiple times by an unknown suspect or suspects, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead at about 11:25 p.m.

No arrests were made and no suspect description was provided. Police asked anyone with information about the case to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411.
