Two people were arrested in connection with a fatal Mission district shooting Tuesday after the latest fatality this month in the besieged neighborhood.

The victim was found by police just after midnight at 20th Street and South Van Ness Avenue. He died later at a hospital, police said. His identity has not been released pending family notification, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Cops detained four people in the area of 21st and Folsom streets, police Officer Gordon Shyy said. They also found two handguns and discarded articles of clothing in the 600 block of Shotwell Street. Of the four people, police arrested 20-year-old Sterling Samm of San Pablo and a 14-year-old boy. Tuesday’s fatality is the fourth in the Mission in October.

On Oct. 24, 19-year-old Cesar Bermudez, of San Francisco, was shot dead in the 2800 block of Harrison Street about 6:20 p.m. Jose Escobar, also 19 and from San Francisco, was shot in the chest near Mission and Caledonia streets about 2:50 a.m. Oct. 20.

About 2 a.m. Oct. 16, 40-year-old San Francisco resident Jose Chuc Mul was critically injured in a fight that involved at least seven other men. Mul died four days later.
