Two arrested on hate crime charges

Two people were arrested on hate crime charges Sunday after brawling with a 51-year-old San Francisco business owner, police said.

The suspects hollered homophobic epithets while assaulting the business owner in the 2200 block of Market Street around 3:15 p.m., police said.

According to police, the victim had asked the suspects, who were outside his business, to leave the property. The suspects refused, and an argument turned into an assault, police said.

The victim suffered head pain but was not seriously injured, police said.

The identities of the suspects were not immediately known.
