On Friday, Bravo TV producer Andy Cohen will host Violet Eyes in the Red City, a fundraising event for the American Foundation for AIDS Research. Cohen will host a Gary Danko dinner with entertainment from Alan Cumming, followed by a cocktail party with a performance by Chaka Khan. Call (415) 402-0303 or visit www.amfar.org for tickets.

How did you get involved with amfAR?

I got involved through Natasha Richardson. She was one of my best friends, and she was always involved in a significant way. When she passed away, I just got more involved.

Are you excited about hosting Alan Cumming?

I love Alan. I’m really excited about seeing him anytime. I’m also really psyched about Chaka Khan.

What do you like about being a producer at Bravo?

We’re creating pop culture. We’ve made a lot of real people famous over the years and that’s fun. It’s exciting to showcase people with talent and something to say.

When did you know that you wanted to work in media?

I always knew. I always loved television, ever since I was young. I loved the news. I loved soap operas, like "All My Children," and I think the "Housewives" shows have become the modern soap opera.
