Rumors that actress Tori Spelling received an, ahem, paltry $800,000 from the estate of her late father, Aaron, due to her then-estranged mother’s spite are false, per Tori’s brother — who says both sibs got $800,000. "It’s not like my dad would give me one thing and Tori another," Randy says. "Nothing was changed in the will."
Halle Berry says killing herself would have been too selfish.
Oscar winner Halle Berry, who has spoken candidly about her life struggles, has revealed a new secret: She once attempted suicide.
After the end of her first marriage, Halle recalled to Parade magazine, she tried to gas herself, but changed her mind at the thought of her family.
"I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming when I had an image of my mother finding me," she said. "She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do."
"It was all about a relationship," the "Perfect Stranger" star mused. "My sense of worth was so low. I promised myself I would never be a coward again."
Joel Madden likes to stay on good terms with his exes.
Rocker Joel Madden has spoken out about his recent breakup from pop princess Hilary Duff, claiming that he wasn’t the bad guy — and that in fact he and Hilary are still on good terms.
Although the Good Charlotte frontman came off as kind of a heel when he got cozy with Nicole Richie soon after the split, he says things are still amicable with his ex. "Every girl I’ve ever dated I have respect for, and I always try to leave them in good terms," Joel told People. "I don’t see the necessity to be friends with anyone you’ve dated, but definitely out of respect … you have to be kind of respectful, and that’s what I try to do."
As for new squeeze Nicole, with whom he is rumored to be getting pretty serious, Joel says, "I don’t really talk about her at all, but I will say I am really happy and everything’s really good for me right now."
Jeremy Piven supposedly left one of his DVDs instead of cash for a tip at Nobu.
According to a report in the New York Daily News, actor Jeremy Piven was asked not to return to the ultra-hot Nobu restaurant chain after acting obnoxious enough to embarrass his "Entourage" character, Ari, at the Aspen, Colo., sister restaurant Matsuhisa.
"He came in with a large group of 12 or more without reservations and asked for a table," a source recalled. "It was a very busy night, but a table, although cramped, was provided. On his way out, he made a nasty comment to the manager: ‘Thanks for nothing.’"
Adding insult to, well, insult, Jeremy reportedly left a lousy tip: a DVD of the first season of "Entourage." Classy!
The actor’s rep relayed to the Daily News that Jeremy countered, "I’m such a fan of Nobu and all of his restaurants. I had a great dinner at the Nobu in Aspen. As always, themeal was excellent and the service was great."
Rocker Scott Weiland’s wife, Mary, released a statement explaining her recent spate of bizarre behavior — which included trashing two hotel rooms and torching a trash can full of her husband’s clothes.
"The weekend’s difficulties were brought on by a reaction to an imbalance in medications used to treat my bipolar disorder," Mary said.
She continued, "Reports that we were fighting at the Graciela Hotel are untrue. Scott was simply trying to help me calm down. I want to make it very clear that he did not hurt me in any way. For lack of a better expression, I was unstable and just ‘lost it.’"
Referring to the $700-plus worth of property that was destroyed during her meltdown, Mary said, "Payment for the damages to the Graciela Hotel has already been made. The gracious staff and management have accepted our apologies and welcome us back in the future."
