Three hours of freedom were too many for San Carlos theft suspect

A man accused of robbing a gas station in San Carlos on Monday had reportedly posted bail for an unrelated arrest only three hours before.

About 12:40 a.m., Charles Patrick Bell was arrested on suspicion of stealing coins from the register of the Holly Gas and Diesel Station at 907 Holly St., according to San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies.

At the time of his arrest, deputies said, Bell possessed a “usable amount of methamphetamine” and a glass pipe.
Just three hours before the gas station incident, Bell had reportedly been released on bail from the Maguire Correctional Facility, where he landed after being arrested over the weekend for allegedly possessing methamphetamine.
