The Daily Outrage: Grandpa suspected of sneaking marijuana into prison for grandson

WHO: Richard Heritz, an 85-year-old Ohio man who was arrested on suspicion of attempting to slip marijuana into the Warren Correctional Institution, where his grandson is an inmate, this month.

WHAT: Heritz apparently isn’t too keen on setting an example for his imprisoned grandson, Gregory Heritz, who was convicted of burglary. Someone caught wind of the elder’s game and tipped off state troopers about his alleged plot to bring in more than 20 grams of weed.

WHY: Richard Heritz now faces seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine for allegedly trying to give his grandson — two years into a 10-year sentence — a fix. It’s probably not exactly the way he had thought of spending his golden years. Instead, he could share a cell with his grandson.
