FAVORITE PUB
Leopolds Gasthaus
WHERE: 2400 Polk St., at Union Street
WHAT: A bit of Bavaria in Baghdad by the Bay
INFO: (415) 474-2000 or www.leopoldssf.com

Great energy, excellent selection of beers on tap and fantastic authentic Austrian food. They serve beers in glass boots! The owner Klaus and his brother Albert have really put their heart and souls into the place. You feel like you’ve stepped into an Austrian pub.

FAVORITE PLACE TO SWIM
Golden Gateway Tennis & Swim Club

WHERE: 370 Drumm St., at Washington Street
WHAT: Outdoor swimming in the heart of SF
INFO: (415)616-8800 or www.ggtsc.com

We spend every Saturday relaxing and swimming (weather permitting). Even when it’s foggy in other parts of The City, the sun’s shining here. It’s in that magic spot downtown where the sun seems to always shine.

FAVORITE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
Woodhouse Fish Company

WHERE:  1914 Fillmore St., between Bush and Pine Streets
WHAT: Reasonable prices and a cozy atmosphere
INFO: (415) 437-2722 or www.woodhousefish.com

The best clam chowder in The City. In fact, all the food here is excellent. Sometimes it’s tough to get a table, but you can usually find a seat quickly at the bar.

FAVORITE PLACE TO SHOP FOR THE WIFE
Luna Boutique

WHERE: 3615 Sacramento St., at Locust Street
WHAT: Stylish shop with one-of-a-kind treasures
INFO: (415) 359-0198 or www.lunaboutiquesf.com

I like to shop for gifts for my wife at Luna. Christina has excellent taste and always has something unique that I know my wife will like. It’s also nice that I can shop on Sacramento Street and not have to pay an arm and a leg for something nice.

FAVORITE PLACE FOR MEXICAN FOOD
Tortilla Heights

WHERE: 1750 Divisadero St., at Bush Street
WHAT: Fun place to take the family
INFO: (415) 346-4531 or  www.tortillaheights.com

We really enjoy going to Tortilla Heights as a family. They have great food and are very accommodating to children.

FAVORITE PLACE TO IMPRESS VISITORS
California Wine Merchant

WHERE: 2113 Chestnut St., at Steiner Street
WHAT: Wine shop and wine bar with regular tastings
INFO: (415) 567-0646 or www.californiawinemerchant.com

This is a great place to take out-of-towners for a delicious glass of wine, especially visitors from states that suffer from not having access to good wine. The foot traffic on Chestnut Street impresses guests to The City as well.

FAVORITE COFFEE SHOP
Jane on Fillmore

WHERE: 2123 Fillmore St.
WHAT: Coffees, teas, pastries and lunch
INFO: (415) 931-5263 or www.janeonfillmore.com

Jane features Four Barrel coffees and organic Whole Leaf teas, and you can taste the difference that quality makes. Besides the excellent coffee, they make the best banana bread I’ve ever had!

FAVORITE THAI RESTAURANT
Little Thai

WHERE: 2065 Polk St., at Broadway Street
WHAT: Nice, quick, delicious, and you won’t break the bank
INFO: (415) 771-5544

Our most frequented and our favorite Thai food restaurant in The City. The owner, Toni, and her husband treat us like we are a member of their family. Another great place to take our 5-year-old.

FAVORITE PLACE FOR TACOS
Tacko

WHERE: 3115 Fillmore St., between Filbert and Greenwich Streets
WHAT: East coast tacos with a west coast flair
INFO: (415)796-3534

We love the tacos at Tacko. Nick Fasanella of Nick’s Crispy Tacos finally opened a restaurant in Cow Hollow and makes the best tacos in town. All the food is excellent and the white wooden benches and beach décor make it fun for my son.
