Apparently that brooding James Dean-wannabe James Franco phones in his education just like he phoned in his disastrous hosting of the Oscars last year.

Now he’s being sued for defamation by a former New York University professor who gave the actor a D in his film class and was, he claims, subsequently fired for it.

The instructor, Jose Angel Santana, told the New York Post that the actor only showed up for two of the 14 classes, and that “whoever was in Clint Eastwood’s chair at the Republican National Convention was more present than Mr. Franco was in my classes.”

As for James, he claimed publicly that Santana was an “awful” teacher, so that’s why he skipped out, and that lots of students do the same thing and don’t end up with D grades. Really?

“I’m teaching there now, so what does that tell you?” James concluded. Um, it tells us a lot, actually.

The ex factor

Two high-profile celebrity divorces are about to finalize — Camille Grammar, who was married to Kelsey until he became dazzled by his stewardess on a flight, is looking at a reported $30 million payout.

And Mel Gibson’s ex-wife Robyn Moore stands to get a whopping $400 million.

It almost makes being married to those two tools worthwhile.

We can hear them now. “You couldn’t pay me enough to marry that guy! Oh, that much?! OK, OK, I’ll do it!”

The Jersey snore

And speaking of money for nothing and chicks for free, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is suing a Vegas club for the $60,000 he says it still owes him for an appearance deal.

Wow, this doe-eyed doofus is making money abs-over-glutes — the Sitch even has companies offer to pay him not to wear their clothes, as Abercrombie & Fitch famously did.

He better earn all he can while it lasts, since there will only be one more season of “The Jersey Shore.”

After that, we predict a stint on “Dancing with the Stars” followed by one on “Celebrity Rehab.” You heard it here first.
