The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote today on whether to appoint a former federal prosecutor as the newest member of The City’s Police Commission.
L. Julius Turman was nominated by the board’s rules committee to succeed Jim Hammer on the commission. The appointment would be for a four-year term ending at the end of April 2015.
Turman, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, has also served as a commissioner on the San Francisco Human Rights Commission.
He was nominated in a 2-1 vote on June 2 by the board’s rules committee, with Supervisor Jane Kim dissenting.
