Former LAPD Detective Steve Hodel is convinced that his father was the killer of the famed Black Dahlia, aka Elizabeth Short, and he recently brought in a cadaver dog to prove it.
Short was found mutilated and dissected in Los Angeles in 1947 and is buried at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland. The case has never officially been solved, but Hodel’s theory is that she was murdered at the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Sowden House, and he employed Buster the cadaver dog to investigate, according to the L.A. Daily News.
During the filming of a never-aired episode of “Ghost Hunters,” Buster detected the scent of “human death” immediately after heading to the basement. “It certainly seems like someone was murdered there,” said retired Police Sgt. Paul Dostie. “Something happened.”
Soil samples from the basement have been sent to a lab for analysis.
