A skateboarder was critically injured when he rolled through a red light and was struck by a truck in an apparent hit-and-run in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood, San Francisco police said.

The 34-year-old skateboarder was riding through the intersection of Eddy and Jones streets when he was hit by a white truck at about 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, police said.

The Police Department's hit-and-run unit is investigating the collision, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
