Six displaced by Daly City blaze

A fire that burned the kitchen of a single-family house in Daly City forced six people out of their home, fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire on Wembley Drive, near Gellert Park, just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the North County Fire Authority.

When they entered the two-story, single-family home, they found smoke and flames coming from the kitchen, fire officials said. They were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen area of the house and extinguish it promptly.

All residents escaped the house without injury, fire officials said.

There was smoke damage throughout the residence and six occupants were displaced. They received housing assistance through the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
