Since Sheriff Michael Hennessey announced he would not run for re-election after 31 years in office, it set off some mild speculation that the popular lawman would seek another office.
After all, he came close to being appointed interim mayor by the Board of Supervisors, and with the growing number of candidates tossing their name on the ballot, it seems anyone with some name recognition has a chance to win.
But reached by phone Wednesday, he assured The San Francisco Examiner that he was looking forward to taking long romantic walks on the beach with his wife, not dealing with The City’s cutthroat political games.
“Politics are in my rearview mirror,” Hennessey said.
Hennessey joins Public Defender Jeff Adachi in growing list of people NOT running for San Francisco mayor.
