The San Francisco Police Department’s Avoid DUI Task Force will be out in full force for the long holiday weekend, targeting drivers “who put lives in danger,” according to a statement released today.
Saturation patrols will be out from 8 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday and drivers can expect random checkpoints from 8 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday.
And SFPD is not the only agency planning such actions.
“Every San Francisco County law enforcement agency is ramping up their enforcement to make our roads safer this Fourth of July,” Sgt. John Bragagnolo said.
The Police Department recommends that Fourth of July revelers plan a safe way home before any drinking begins by designating a driver or taking a taxi or public transportation. Anyone who sees what they believe to be a drunken driver is encouraged to call 911.
