  • The day before Thanksgiving, one of the busiest travel days of the year, had flight delays at SFO due to bad weather around the nation.

One of the busiest travel days of the year is upon us and San Francisco International Airport is feeling the heat.

According to Federal Aviation’s Air Traffic Control Command Center, arriving flights are seeing delays averaging one hour and six minutes because of a “low cloud ceiling.”

The late arrivals could be connected with the rain storm drenching much of the eastern seaboard. Newark International Airport, New York’s La Guardia Airport and Boston’s Logan Airport are all seeing 30 minute delays in and out of those ports.

San Francisco can expect rain and wind to increase as the day wears on. For Thanksgiving, the City will see rain and wind up to 10 mph.

Before heading to the airport or the road for the holiday, airport and law enforcement officials are warning travels to check with airlines for delays and Caltrans for road closures.
