How we see it

San Francisco Examiner columnists offer their predictions for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game:

ART SPANDER
49ers 17, Giants 14

The fantasy train has left the station, and there’s no reason to get off until it arrives at the Super Bowl. After Alex Smith to Vernon Davis on Saturday, anything is possible. And you have got to like that San Francisco defense.

TIM LIOTTA
49ers 24, Giants 16

The Niners will prevail in an old-school, hard-hitting game that features Frank Gore’s first postseason 100-yard rushing game.

RICH WALCOFF
49ers 23, Giants 17

Mother nature must be a 49ers fan. An expected wet and sloppy Candlestick Park should greatly help San Francisco’s ground-and-pound offense, while also slowing down the Giants’ potent aerial attack and pass rush. The 49ers’ defense will stuff New York’s run game and put big-time pressure on QB Eli Manning.

GLENN DICKEY
49ers 24, Giants 20

Alex Smith hits another late touchdown to send the 49ers to their sixth Super Bowl in franchise history and PG&E keeps the lights on.
