The TomKat wedding may have been performed by a Scientology minister, but don’t think for a moment their marriage is not legit, representatives of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes say after the pair’s fab wedding in an Italian castle over the weekend.
Scientology ceremonies contain many elements of traditional weddings, including rings and vows. But they also include certain Scientology fundamentals, including vowing never to go to bed without communicating about any differences.
A spokesman for the Church of Scientology for Rome, Fabrizio D’Agostino, said an exchange of vows with a Scientology rite was not legally recognized in Italy, and would have to be preceded or followed by a civil union.
Publicists said Cruise and Holmes had "officialized their marriage in Los Angeles prior to their departure for Italy," saying that was customary for couples marrying outside the United States. Cruise’s publicist Arnold Robinson wrote in response to press questions about whether that meant they had been married in a civil ceremony, "the required steps were taken for the marriage to be legal."
So there. It’s not a sham.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
The recently unretired rapper Jay-Z, whose comeback album, "Kingdom Come," will be released Tuesday, celebrated his return to the game over the weekend with a seemingly impossible trek: seven 30-minute concerts around the country in 24 hours. He hit up Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, and finished in Las Vegas early Sunday.
"First of all, y’all crazy," Jay-Z said to the first crowd of the day, in Atlanta, which showed up in the wee hours to watch his 6 a.m. concert. "I know I’m already crazy. But y’all crazy."
Beyonce showed up at the L.A. show, near midnight. Dressed in a black babydoll dress, black leggings and heels, she looked stunning as always. She didn’t get onstage to recreate any of the hits she’s had with her famous boyfriend. Instead, she and Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams were off to the side of the stage, dancing along with the rest of the crowd. The tour ended in Las Vegas with a raucous concert, 24 hours after the first show of the day.

The on-off boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss was arrested after he was spotted driving his car erratically near his east London home, police said.
The 27-year-old musician, along with the car’s other two occupants, were arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
All three men were released from Bethnal Green police station pending analysis of the substances recovered, said a Scotland Yard spokeswoman, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with force policy. They must report back to police in December.
The troubled singer’s battle with drug addiction has been lived in the public eye through countless media reports.
He has repeatedly sought treatment for his addiction and was expelled from his band "The Libertines" in 2004, after band members issued an ultimatum for him to tackle his drug habit.
He was fined this month for assaulting a British Broadcasting Corp. reporter outside a London court.
