Smith’s lawyer, Howard K. Stern, came out as the father of her baby daughter, Dannie Lynn Hope, on "Larry King Live" Tuesday night.
"We love each other and it’s been going on for a very long time and because of my relationship as her lawyer, we felt it was best to keep everything hidden," Stern said. "And we’ve done a pretty good job of that."
This is probably news to Smith’s ex-boyfriend celeb photographer Larry Birkhead, who is under the assumption that he is the baby’s father.
"I am not surprised he would say this, but I am laughing at it. Larry King didn’t even believe Howard," Birkhead told Us Weekly. "I have asked for a DNA test and I welcome it. … I know I am the father of the child. I look forward to having a relationship with my new daughter."
Meanwhile, Smith is still reeling from the death of her 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith.
"[Dannie is] the one thing that is really keeping her going," Stern said. "And through it all, even with all the pain, she has been a great mom, a very attentive mom."
Since their first project together — baby Suri — is such a success, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are ready to work together again: this time, on a movie.
"Tom is looking for a movie that will make the most of their chemistry," a source told Life & Style Weekly. "He’s devoting himself to putting together a project that will not only make Katie a bona fide star, but will put him back in the good graces of the movie-going public."
Don’t expect a "Top Gun" or "Mission: Impossible" flick out of TomKat though.
"This time, he’s looking beyond the typical action roles," the source said. "Katie is open to any project her fiancé puts forward but is desperate to lose the ‘girl next door’ image she gained from years starring as Joey in ‘Dawson’s Creek.’"
We’re sure you remember that Cruise made three movies with ex-wife Nicole Kidman — "Days of Thunder," "Far and Away" and "Eyes Wide Shut." So, not only did their marriage suffer, but movie-goers suffered, too.
Kate Hudson is going to give husband Chris Robinson his walking papers very soon and go public with her relationship with "You, Me and Dupree" star Owen Wilson.
"She is filing for divorce imminently," a blabby buddy told Us Weekly. "As soon as she files, it relieves a lot of the pressure of going out with Owen."
The friend says Wilson and Hudson are the cutest couple and a much better match than Hudson and the Black Crowes singer, with whom she has two children.
"She’s much more true to herself when she’s with Owen," the friend said. "Kate has never been happier."
Walking skeleton Nicole Richie is not in rehab for an eating disorder.
The "Simple Life" star is dismissing the rumor that seems so likely that even CNN reported it as fact.
"Contrary to CNN’s false accusations, I did not check myself into an eating disorder rehab," Richie wrote on her MySpace page. "I do not have an eating disorder, and I don’t know how many times I have to say it. I’ve repeated myself so many times, I feel like a broken record."
Then the wafer-thin one goes on to try and convince us that everything is hunky-dory.
"Whoever started this rumor is evil and mean, but it’s not true," Richie wrote. "I am happy, and healthy, and living my life."
Happy, perhaps. Living your life, yes. Healthy? Not so much.
