Paris Hilton won’t go to jail after admitting she lied to cops about possessing cocaine. After a baggie was found in her Chanel clutch, “I said that the purse wasn’t mine to the officer, your honor,” she admitted in court Monday.
Under the terms of a deal, the heiress pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges — drug possession and obstructing an officer. She’ll do a year of probation, attend an “intensive” substance abuse program, pay a $2,000 fine — chump change to her — and complete 200 hours of community service.
If the celebutante is arrested within the year, however, she’ll spend a year behind bars, the judge said, adding that “the Clark County Detention Center is not the Waldorf Astoria.”
Why did Paris originally tell authorities the cocaine found in her purse didn’t belong to her, even speculating that it was “gum”?
“At the moment it all came down, she was scared,” a source told People magazine. “But since then, she’s had time to think about her actions and she’s taking this really seriously.”
Indeed, TMZ sources said Paris is “over being a party girl” and has proclaimed to pals, “I’m taking this whole ordeal as a wake-up call.”
The former “Simple Life” star wants to “trade in the club scene for a life at home” and “finally grow up and become a responsible adult.” She reportedly plans to focus on business endeavors and volunteer at animal shelters.
Hm. When Paris did jail time back in 2007, she emerged claiming she wanted to focus on charity work and make a humanitarian trip to Africa.
How’d that work out? Oh, right, it didn’t.
Single Lady No. 1
Well, this sounds familiar: Once again, Kim Kardashian has split up with a football-playing boyfriend because their schedules are too busy. This time, however, the buff dude in question is Miles Austin of the Dallas Cowboys. (Previously, the reality TV star had a relationship with Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints.)
“There’s no huge reason except their distance apart,” an insider told People magazine of the mutual breakup. “With his season and Kim’s filming, it just slowly split them apart.”
“They tried to keep it as low profile as possible when they were together,” the source said. “They were acting as if they were single or just having fun, but they never were — it was the real deal. They were always strong, but before Kim left for Europe they decided it’s not fair that they don’t get to spend more time together and ended it.”
Single Lady No. 2
Though she and her rep are mum on reports of a marital separation, Elisabeth Moss was “definitely in single-girl mode” at a Fashion Week presentation in NYC last week, a source told Page Six.
The “Mad Men” star, whose hubby Fred Armisen is said to have moved on to his “SNL” co-star Abby Elliott after 10 months of marriage, “showed up with a group of girlfriends ready to party,” the source said.
The actress “stayed the entire show sipping on drinks, and then went to Le Bain at the Standard to dance,” the source said, adding that “Elisabeth looked fantastic, and like she had lost some weight.”
Looking good — always the best revenge!
