Sean Combs has had a lot of nicknames — Puffy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, that guy who’s in all those music videos — but in Britain, the hip-hop mogul cannot go by his latest nickname, Diddy.
As part of an out-of-court legal settlement with London-based music producer Richard "Diddy" Dearlove, the artist formerly known as Diddy has agreed to "rebrand his commercial activities," according to The Associated Press.
"I started getting e-mails from Puerto Rican girls asking if they could be in my video and people were asking me to look at their clothing line," Dearlove told The Guardian newspaper. "It doesn’t matter how big people become. This is my name. I’ve been successful, too. I’m not a global megastar, but what I do is valid."
That’s strange. P. Diddy sampled his name from someone else? That seems unlikely.
Of course, don’t expect Mr. Combs to be too concerned about his moniker. The 35-year-old is all that, or at least, so he says.
"I’m still the flyest mother [bleep]er out there," what’s-his-face told the upcoming issue of Elle. "I’m still dictating what’s hot, what the flavor is, what dance should be done. I’m not trying to hold on to my youth — I’m just timeless, I guess."
What’s a Vaughniston?
Vince Vaughn, who is at the Toronto International Film Festival screening his comedy concert film, "Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show," has been making the party rounds sans Jennifer Aniston.
The "Break-Up" star was spotted getting his drink on at the restaurant Kultura Social Dining.
"Vince was surrounded by beautiful women, laughing and carrying on and he seemed to be having a really good time," an eyewitness told Star magazine. "He spent most of the night on the second floor before finally leaving at around 3 a.m. with a pack of pals to head off to another party."
Of course, Aniston has a very good reason for not accompanying her man to Toronto. Her ex Brad Pitt is also in town promoting his movie, "Babel."
Cindy Crawford is freaking out about the "I owe the quality of my skin to my cosmetic surgeon" comment she made in Gala magazine.
The 40-year-old supermodel is wigging out because she claims she never said that.
"Cindy didn’t make the statements attributed to her in the article," Crawford’s rep Nicole Caruso said, according to Ananova.com. "We’re investigating this matter fully and intend to take all appropriate action against the source of the falsehoods."
Gala magazine: You are on notice!
Paris Hilton wants everyone to know that wasn’t recently separated "Meet the Barkers" star Travis Barker she was making out with at the Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen’s Club in Las Vegas. It was some other tattoo-covered freak, er, gentleman suitor.
"I did not make out with Travis Barker. I was with his friend Alex, who I met that night. It’s nothing serious," the so-called singer told MSNBC. "He looks like Travis, he has tattoos all over his arms, and he has a Mohawk. People must have confused him with Travis."
Keep in mind that last week Hilton was arrested for alleged drunken driving, which she also called "nothing."
