Scoop! Heartbroken Kate skips U.K. ‘Dupree’ premiere

Kate Hudson decided not to attend the London premiere of her movie "You, Me and Dupree" on Tuesday night.

You’d think it was because the movie is such a stinker, but she’s really not going because of all the rumors about her love affair with "Dupree" co-star Owen Wilson being the catalyst behind her split with her husband and Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson.

"It’s obviously a shame, but I’m sure her fans will understand and give her their support through what must be a difficult time," a source told BANG Showbiz.

Gossip hounds are barking that it wasn’t Wilson who broke up Hudson’s six-year marriage but it was Robinson’s less-than-lovey attitude and thatclose friends and family were not surprised by the split.

"Chris gave her a store-bought card and didn’t even write ‘love’ in it!" one of Hudson’s blabby buddies told Star magazine. "Kate said, ‘I should be broken hearted, but I’m at a point where this is par for the course.’"

"Owen didn’t cause her to pull the trigger — he only reinforced what she was already feeling," an insider said.

Bored of the rings

Speaking of failed relationships, Brittany Murphy is a two-time loser when it comes to engagements.

First, Murphy was engaged to her manager, Jeff Kwatinetz, in 2004, but the couple split amid rumors that Kwatinetz was still smitten with his ex-girlfriend Michelle Dupont, who, at the time, had moved on to Adrian Brody.

And now, the "Sin City" star and Joe Macaluso, who worked as a grip on her box-office dud "Little Black Book," canceled their impending nuptials after being engaged less than a year.

"[Murphy and Macaluso] have amicably ended their engagement. They remain close friends and wish each other much happiness," Murphy’s rep told People magazine.

The secret breakup became obvious Sunday when Murphy showed up to the Teen Choice Awards stag and sans engagement ring. When asked about her engagement in the press room, Murphy basically lied, saying, "Everything is going wonderful, thank you. I’m just living every moment, you know, enjoying my day."

Stop, or my mom will issue a statement!

Poor Cameron Diaz.

Justin Timberlake’s mom still isn’t over her son’s breakup with Britney Spears.

"I still love her to death. They [Justin and Britney] were together 10 of 11 years and had, from day 1, that chemistry between them," Lynn Harless, who also manages Timberlake’s career, told The Sun. "She’s a sweet girl. I just hate what she’s going throughnow."

We assume Timberlake’s mom saw Kevin Federline’s performance on the Teen Choice Awards, too.

Live from New York, you’re fired

Four cast members of "Saturday Night Live" are about to get fired.

The New York Post is reporting that the four performers have already received the bad news (or is it good news?), but creator Lorne Michaels hasn’t gone public yet with the cast changes.

"The history of ‘SNL’ has been that people step up," Michaels told the Post. "It’s just been that way, at least so far. I think there are people there now who are going to be brilliant."

The 30-year-old late-night sketch comedy series already has lost co-head-writer and "Weekend Update" co-anchor Tina Fey, who is producing and starring in the fall sitcom "30 Rock," which is — originality alert! — a comedy about a late-night sketch comedy series. Michaels is also a producer.

Cast member Rachel Dratch also left the show for a role on "30 Rock," only to be replaced by "Ally McBeal" star Jane Krakowski. Dratch has been reduced to playing multiple reoccurring characters.

"Both Tina and I obviously adore Rachel, and we wanted to find a way in which we could go to her strength," Michaels told Daily Variety.
