Norman Fong, the deputy director of the Chinatown Community Development Center, is helping organize the second annual Noodle Fest. The culinary and cultural celebration will be presented by the North Beach Merchants Association and Chinatown Community Development Center on May 1.
What is Noodle Fest? The beauty of it is that we are bringing two old San Francisco neighborhoods together for something positive. There will be bands on the street, over 30 restaurant booths and cooking demonstrations. Chinese and Italian restaurants will be working side by side with noodle and pasta dishes. The Noodle Fest passport tickets costs $20 and will get you three pasta tastings from North Beach, three noodle tastings from Chinatown and one beverage. Tickets can be purchased at www.noodlefest2011.eventbrite.com
Why are you combining the two neighborhoods for this culinary delight? It’s a nice way to not only enjoy good food but to share our great histories.
What will be the highlights? For me it’s that lots of old-timers who grew up in the area will be coming back for it. It will also help promote small restaurants and businesses, who can still sign up.
