San Carlos man accused of lewd acts with young girl

San Mateo County sheriffs said they arrested a San Carlos man Wednesday for alleged sexual offenses against a 10-year-old girl.

The Sheriff’s Office said they had begun an investigation when the girl’s parents reported she had been receiving inappropriate phone calls and text messages from a family friend.

The friend, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Yung Chi Chu, 46, was arrested at his home on 12 counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, one count of sending harmful matter with the intent of seducing a minor, and one count of contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense.

Chu had been an Internet technology worker for the Menlo Park City School District, the Sheriff’s Office said. He is being held at San Mateo County Jail on $250,000 bail.
