Reid says cowboy poets "would not exist" without federal funds 

In the middle of a tirade against House Republicans’ “mean-spirited” budget cuts, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., inserted a commercial to support funding for “cowboy poetry” in his home state. Reid lamented that the GOP wanted to eliminate the National Endowment of the Humanities, which bankrolls a cowboy poetry festival in northern Nevada every January. Had that program not been around, Reid said, the tens of thousands of people who come there every year “would not exist.”
