Red Carpet: The last century lives on at Herbst Pavilion 

SF20: On Sept. 24, dozens of respected national and international art dealers came together at Fort Mason’s Herbst Pavilion for an event themed around the 20th-century modernist movement. Douglas Durkin Design and Steven Volpe Design assembled vignettes displayed at the entrance of the show, and proceeds went toward San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art.

 


After its first year in the park, Academy of Sciences a blast

Academy of Sciences ‘Big Bang’ Night: On Sept. 25, the California Academy of Sciences celebrated its first year at its new Golden Gate Park location with its second annual “Big Bang” event, with proceeds benefiting research and education programs. Musician Chris Isaak headlined with a performance in the facility’s west garden, and turntablist DJ Nako kept the party alive in the piazza until 1 a.m.

 


The times are never too tough

Rodin by Moonlight: On Sept. 26, the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University held its eighth “Rodin by Moonlight” black-tie fundraiser, featuring delicious cuisine, lively music and fine art and wine. The event was briefly up in the air in recognition of the current economic climate, but the museum’s friends encouraged its staff and volunteers to move forward due to the center’s important role as an educational resource.
