A raid on the Occupy SF camp in the Justin Herman Plaza is expected around midnight Thursday, according to police.

Speculation that the San Francisco Police Department would enter the camp that has occupied the Embarcadero park since earlier this month has swirled since Chief Greg Suhr issued a warning for potential arrest because the protesters were violating city codes.

The warning was the second issued to the protesters. The first was given on Oct. 11. Police entered the camp five days later – the night of Oct. 16 – to disassemble the tents and remove protesters; five arrests were made that night.

The second warning, delivered to protesters at Justin Herman Plaza on Tuesday, Oct. 25, came days after Suhr said the police had “no future plans” to enter the park.

The exact time of Wednesday’s raid was not officially released, but estimates were given between 11 p.m. and midnight.

All off duty officers were also called to work this evening, according to police.

The San Francisco Police plan to enter the Justin Herman Plaza around the same time Oakland Police are expected to attempt to disband Occupy Oakland protesters near Frank Ogawa Plaza in Oakland for the second night in a row.
