Purse snatcher nabbed after 'extreme parking' episode in San Francisco

A would-be purse snatcher was caught in the Diamond Heights area after stealing a women’s purse, crashing his car in a neighbor’s yard, fleeing and taking cover in a neighboring backyard.

The man snatched a woman’s purse in the 5100 block of Diamond Street around 3:30 p.m., San Francisco Police said. The man, who was recently released from prison after serving 38 years, tried to flee the area in his car, but managed to flip the vehicle in a nearby front yard.

With the wheels spinning in the air in what was described as “extreme parking” the man then fled on foot, police said.

A perimeter was set up and he was found hiding two houses over under some bushes.

The woman’s belongings were returned to her.
