Marshall (1-2) is the only Academic Athletic Association team playing four nonleague games and will face another tough road test against the defending Oakland Athletic League champions this week. McClymonds (2-1) went undefeated last year, including a 54-14 win against Marshall.
Eight-man football or not, the Knights (3-0) have been one of the most pleasant surprises in the early season. Stuart Hall has outscored opponents 114-30 in its three games, and will make the 130-mile trip to Potter Valley (2-0) to end its four-game road trip before four consecutive games in San Francisco.
The host Tigers (1-2) look to even their record before league play kicks into gear. Terra Nova dropped a 34-27 heartbreaker to Pioneer (San Jose) last week, while San Mateo (0-1-1) wound up tying Woodside 21-21. Last year, Terra Nova routed San Mateo 50-29 on its way to a CCS championship. Today’s tilt is Terra Nova’s final home contest before a three-game stretch on the road.
After dismantling Oakland last week, the Eagles (1-1) will look to get another victory over an East Bay rival in Irvington (1-1). Washington ran for 401 yards, including a 17-yard TD run by Peter Tran, against Oakland last week and edged Irvington last season on the road 28-21.
