Power is back on for 7,000 PG&E customers who lost power following a problem with an underground cable.

At about 10 a.m. Thursday, a third party accidentally dug into an underground cable in the 1200 block of McAllister Street, cutting off power to about 7,000 people in Western Addition and Laurel Heights, according to spokeswoman Fiona Chan.

Crews restored power to all customers around 12:20 p.m.

Chan said the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
