Portions of Beale Street to be closed this weekend due to transit center construction

Portions of Beale Street will be off-limits to motorists this weekend due to construction work for the Transbay Transit Center project.

Starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Beale Street will be closed between Mission and Howard streets, while construction crews demolish the above-street crossing arch of the existing Transbay Terminal. The work will continue until 5 a.m. on Monday morning.
The Transbay Transit Center, a state-of the art multi-modal transit depot, is expected to be completed in 2017. The center, which is replacing the 81-year-old Transbay Terminal, is expected to act as the northern terminus for the state’s high-speed rail project.
