Police seek four in shooting near Metreon

A man was shot and another beaten early Sunday morning in a city-owned parking garage on Mission Street between Fourth and Fifth streets, according to police.

At 1:50 a.m., two men were going up in an elevator in the Fifth Street parking garage with four other men. After getting out of the elevator, the larger group attacked the two men, according to police.

"One victim heard gunshots ... and ran over and saw their friend on the ground," Sgt. Neville Gittens said.

One victim had multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital by paramedics. The condition of both victims was unknown Sunday afternoon, and the only description of the suspects was that they were male, according to Gittens. Police said they were not sure how the suspects left the garage. Police investigators were at the garage for a couple of hours after the shooting.

The garage is across the street from the Metreon movie theater and shopping complex.
