A large forklift crane fell down at the intersection of Ellis and Leavenworth streets at about 7:30 a.m., Officer Gordon Shyy said.

Ellis Street was initially closed between Leavenworth and Jones streets, Shyy said.

Muni buses had to be rerouted as a result of the accident, Shyy said.

A few parked cars and some streetlights were damaged from the fall, but no one was injured, the officer said. Two construction workers in a truck were nearly hit by the falling equipment, which landed within feet of them.

PG&E was called in to shut off electricity in the area as the forklift was being removed from the street, Shyy said.
