Pet insurer says Giants will be barking all the way to the title

With the World Series beginning Wednesday, it seems everyone is an expert. Vegas is picking Detroit. Some baseball analysts favor your never-say-die hometown Giants, while others believe Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander will be too much to handle for the Orange and Black.

In what could be seen as a move out of left field, the Veterinary Pet Insurance Co. joined the prediction party — and the nation’s largest provider of insurance for our furry friends is going with San Francisco. Hum baby!

Using what it called “a more scientific approach to forecasting the winner,” the company tabulated its database of more than 485,000 insured pets to find that 1,875 had names associated with the Giants — largely boosted by the 1,427 combined Busters and Pablos. The Tigers were close at 1,836, led by Sparky — for legendary manager Sparky Anderson — with 536 names.
